WELCOME TO MRS. DIBRITO'S SPEECH/LANGUAGE OFFICE

The speech and language department at Jackson County Central  provides services to those students who are unable to communicate due to difficulties with the correct production of sounds or controlling vocal productions.  The speech language department also aides a student who may require assistance with using the symbols of language through appropriate use of words and their meanings, appropriate grammatical patterns and appropriate expression and comprehension skills.

Some speech and language disorders may be related to physical conditions such as cleft palate, cerebral palsy, head injury, and/or vocal abuse.  These conditions may exist from birth or may be acquired later in life.

When students are unable to communicate because the  use of speech and language skills do not appear appropriate for their age, assessments are completed to see if the student meets the criteria set up by the state of Minnesota for receiving speech and/or language services.

The methods of intervention and remediation differ depending upon the nature and severity of the delay, the age of the student, and the student's awareness of the delay.

In District 2895 speech services are provided to students ranging from birth to grade 12.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's communication skills please contact me at sdibrito@jcc.mntm.org.
