English 8

Spelling will be assigned.  Students will be required to write sentences, take tests, and know the definitions of the words.  Points are deducted for late work.  The tests are worth twenty points.  There is a review at the end of each unit.

 

Reading is required of all students.  Each trimester the students will be required to read 1000 pages in a book/books of their choice.  This work must be cleared by the teacher.  Absolutely no illustrated classics.  The students are then required to fill out a book review form or take a test in the library.  

Daily Work will consist of reading short stories, novels, plays, poetry, and nonfiction assigned in class.  There will be daily check tests and unit tests over all assigned reading. There will be a speech unit in January with all students performing on topics of their choice.
