Driving is like Baseball; it is the number of times you reach home safely that counts!

Please contact me for information about Driver's Ed.  You may now also contact Barb Egeland.  Contact information for both of us is listed below in the Behind the Wheel section.

The next classroom session will start August 11, 2008!  Please contact me about the Summer Class or for information about area private instructors.

The next class starts Aug. 11, 2008 at the JCC High School.  The cost for the class is $300, due on the first day of class.  The tentative dates are August 11-15,18-22, and 25-26.  Ten of these twelve days will be used for class and the other two for make-up days.  These are listed in the 2008-09 school calendar.  Students have to attend all 30 hours of class!

The students will need a Birth Certificate from the county they were born in (The one given by the hospital does not qualify!) and another form of ID to take the permit test.   I do not need the birth certificate, but the Examiners do!  If you do not have a copy of your birth certificate, acquire one as soon as possible.  For a list of applicable ID's, refer to your driver manual.  Students will receive a driver manual on the first day of class.

In the last five years (2000-04) 236 teens were killed in traffic crashes.  That makes traffic crashes the leading cause of death for teenagers in Minnesota.  A major reason is driver distraction, including cell phones.

Enrollment form for Summer, Fall, and Spring Classes – 2008-09

Dear Student and/or Parent,

If you wish to enroll in one of the following sessions for the Classroom phase of Driver Education through Jackson County Central, please complete this form.  Or, contact me through the phone or email.

Summer Session:  Start  August 11 and end August 26, 2008.

Fall Session:  Start October 20 and end November 5, 2008.  (For students who turn 15 before May.  If you turn 15 after May, you would probably be better off taking the Spring, 2009 class.)

Spring Session:  Start May 18 and end on or before June 5, 2009.  (For students who turn 15 before August.  If your birthday is after August, you would probably be better off taking the Fall Session.)

As you cannot test until after your 15th birthday, sign up for the session closest to your 15th birthday.  Classes are limited to 30 students.

The 30 hours of classroom training will be held as 10 three hour classes.  These classes will be held at the high school in Jackson.

The cost for Driver Education is $300.  This covers both phases, Classroom and Behind the Wheel.  Unless prior arrangements have been made with the instructor, the money is due on or before the first class of the session you are enrolled in.

Please return the bottom portion of this form, along with a check or money order for $300 to either the JCC High School Office in Jackson or to Mr. Condon at the Middle School in Lakefield.  Write the checks to JCC Schools and put 'driver ed' on the memo line.  Please enroll at least 1 week prior to the first class for each session.  (If you call or email, you do not have to return the bottom portion of this page.)

If you have any questions, I can be reached by phone (662-6625 – school, 662-6405 – home, or 1-507-840-0986 - cell) or through email (Steve_Condon@jccschools.com).
