Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year! 9th grade meets with me every Monday and Wednesday and every other Friday. A Friday schedule is posted in my room. They have phy ed on Tuesday and Thursday and every other Friday. Grading is done on a percentage basis. 90%- A, 80%-B, 70%-C, 60%-D, and below 60% is failing. All kids are responsible to bring paper, folder, and a pen or pencil to class. All kids are required to follow classroom expectations and procedures. Those expectations were outlined the first day of school. Freshmen topics will include: study skills, decision making, goal setting, conflict resolution, death and dying, nutrition, designing individual fitness plans, drugs, alcohol, and smoking.
We spent the first few weeks talking about study skills, decision making, what to do when you make a wrong decision, and good character. The last topics have been listening skills, goal setting, and I messages.
second quarter topic was "death and dying". We talked about the aging process and senior citizens, stages of death, and funerals and grief. We started out third quarter creating fitness plans . We demonstrated them in class for a week. The quarter ended with nutrition.
Fourth quarter deals with a fast food lab, food label reading, why eat a good breakfast, table manners, and food poisoning. We'll end the quarter doing alcohol, drugs, and smoking topics.

Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year! Sophomore health will meet every Tuesday and Thursday and every other Friday. A Friday schedule is posted in my room. Grading is done on a percentage basis. 90%- A, 80%-B, 70%-C, 60%-D, and below 60% is failing. All kids are responsible to bring paper, folder, and a pen or pencil to class. All kids are required to follow classroom expectations and procedures. Those expectations were outlined the first day of school. Topics will include: sexuality, body systems, first aid and CPR, and consumer health.
Quarter 1 and into quarter 2 was be all about sexuality. WE finished up quarter 2 with the circulatory and respiratory systems. Quarter 3 started out learning CPR. The kids can be certified for two years with the American Heart certification. We finished up quarter 3 with more body systems- skeletal and muscular, digestive, and endocrine.
Final body system test started fourth quarter. First aid topics was next. Each child made up a 20 minute unit on their topic of first aid.
