Course #134   Special Education        1 credit/1st&2nd semester            Grad Stand:
Learning Disabilities: The Learning Disability classroom provides assistance to any and all special needs students.  These students may have a class to improve reading, written expression or math skills.  In addition, a student may receive additional support for all mainstream classes through a guided study hall.  This guided study focuses on developing organization and study skills, as well as, reinforcing learning from their regular classes.  Each year an individual Education Plan is developed by a team of the student, parents, teachers and administration.  This plan outlines the student's education program and progress of that plan.

MMI/MSMI:  The MMI/MSMI program covers a wide variety of students with special needs.  The main emphasis is on community based programming to each functional, lifelong skills.  At this age, the focus shifts from the academic areas to transitioning from school to the world beyond.  Of course everything is individualized based on the needs of each student.

EDB: The Emotional/Behavioral Disorder (EBD) resource room provides students with an opportunity to be successful in a small group environment.  Students work on developing social skills and appropriate behaviors.  They may use behavior plans, contracts or check lists.  Each situation varies and is planned according to the individual's needs.  Much attention is given to developing relationships with peers and adults.  We often work with agencies outside of the school to provide the best program for the student.
